“On a snowy day in January 1977, our daughter Rebecca Ann Eschenbach was born. On my first visit to the hospital, I was so excited that I dug out my suit from our wedding and got all dressed up. After church, I visited Lisa and my new baby girl at the hospital…”

“As the church in Edgewood continued to grow, the idea to begin a Christian school now became a reality. Michelle became a middle school student at Edgewood Christian Community School. Soon after, we enrolled Rebecca and Sarah into our small Christian school…”

Rebecca said, “I was heartbroken on that day, knowing that I was leaving everything I ever knew. I was angry at Dad and Mom for moving me just before my 16th birthday, and it was hard to control my anger…”

“The year 1990 was going to be a very memorable year for our family. Rebecca and Sarah were both teenagers now. And Michelle, a young adult, would be departing for Mexico City with the entire Phillips family before the year’s end…”

“In mid-April of 1992, Amtrak requested that I fly out to Los Angeles and interview for the position of Engineer of Track and Structures. Elise, Rebecca, Sarah, and I embarked on an adventure that none of us would ever forget…”
