On January 4, 1987 – 35 years ago, 16 lives were lost in the Amtrak/Chase, Maryland – Tragic train wreck. This tribute and memory is dedicated to all who experienced the loss of loved ones. To the many first responders and railroad employees who endured this event and worked tirelessly at the wreck site.
The railroad industry now has new numerous rules and regulations, as a result of this tragic accident. These rules make all railroads and their employees safer.
In Chapter 19 of my book, I talk about this tragic event. And this one was the most difficult ever during my 44 year, career in the railroad industry.
My prayer is that the many lessons learned from this event will be of a great benefit to all current and future railroad employees.
