Today’s post is an excerpt from the book Rescued.
Mr. Bigus said, “Well, with your persistence, I can’t turn you away empty-handed.”
He handed me an application. That was a start. He said, “Take this home, complete it, and return it to me tomorrow.”
I took the application home, and after reviewing it, I had one big concern. There was one question on that application, which I did not want to answer. It read, “Have you ever been convicted of a felony?” With a yes or no box to be checked. I thought, As a Christian I can’t lie. Oh God, I need Your wisdom.
Lisa and I prayed over my completed application, and I truthfully answered the question “yes.” I wondered if my honesty about my felony conviction would hinder my chance for an interview. We prayed that if God wanted me to have a job on the railroad that He would have to open the door for me.
